Another step closer

I’m sorry we haven’t written for a long time, but we hadn’t had any movement in the process, until a few weeks ago. First, we received an email about a potential birth mother. She was seven months pregnant with a baby girl. On the same day we found out that she chose another adoptive family, we were told about another birth family due to have a baby boy, the beginning of January. Unfortunately, yesterday we were notified, that they too chose another family. We were warned by the agency and by other adopting families that the rejection would be difficult, but the feeling of disappointment is almost unbearable. It is a little like the feeling we had each time we found out we were not pregnant, but there is double layer of rejection. Knowing that it was not a medical issue that is keeping us from a family is hard enough, but in this case it is a person saying they think another family is more worthy of raising their child. It is impossible to not take it personally.

We truly believe that there is a baby out there meant for us, but waiting for him or her to find their way to us, is excruciating.

Yet another step closer!

We dropped off our family books, birth parent letter and paid the private search fee at the agency and we are now on the active search list!!!! It is hard to believe we are finally ready to find our little one!

Home Study Approved!

It came! It came! Our home study approval letter came today! We are so excited! I am going to drop off our family books and birth parent letters tomorrow! We are praying that our birth mother search is quick and easy! Please continue your prayerful support! Every step we take is one step closer to our dream!

We are so sorry for the delay. We are patiently waiting for our home study to be approved through the adoption agency. In the mean time, we are working on our family photo book (this will be the first thing the birth mother sees of us), our birth parent letter and organizing the house to make room for a new little one! We are so excited to move on to the next step of our journey. Thank you all for the continued thoughts and prayers–please keep them coming!!!

One step closer

We just finished another home study! We finished the safety inspection and the characteristics checklist. We have training tomorrow from 6PM-10PM and Saturday from 9AM-5PM which should be very informational. We have one last meeting with our assessor on Monday and then we are all set! We will just have to wait for our paperwork from the state so that we can start looking for birth moms. It is hard to believe we have come so far, so quickly. We couldn’t be more excited!!!! Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue on our journey for “Baby Cunert.”

Shopping today

Chris and I went to Babies R Us today to look at travel systems (strollers and car seats). It was such an amazing feeling to go into the store knowing that we were shopping for us. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t get choked up–I know it is hard to believe that I would get emotional! We checked them all out and picked out the one we liked. I came home and searched for it online and found it at Target for $30 less–bargain shopping all the way! Every step we take in this process that gets us closer and closer to our own little one, is amazing!

Home Study visit #2

Just finished our second home study with Mandy and it went just as well as the first. Our fire inspection is this Friday and our third home study visit is on May 9th. We are moving right along. Keep those prayers coming!

Home study visit #1

Well all–we just finished our first of 3 home study visits with our assessor. We think it went very well. Lots and lots of question answering, but quite painless. We have another appointment scheduled for next week and we got a copy of the safety audit so that we can make sure we have all of those requirements met. We just keep checking things off our list!

Home study questionnaire completed!

After a good 10 hours or so, Chris and I completed our home study questionnaire. It ended up being 12 typed pages! Feels so great to have the next step completed. Mandy, our assessor is coming for our first meeting on Tuesday night at 7! We have few small pieces of paper work to finish and then we wait, wait and wait some more. Each piece that is accomplished, no matter how much work, gets us that much closer to our dream! We can’t wait to meet the little person God has waiting for us!

Well all—with the love and support from our family and friends we raised $9208.68! Chris and I cannot express our thanks and appreciation enough for all of the kindness and generosity, we have received from everyone, throughout this journey. We feel so blessed to have such loving and supportive people in our lives!

Our first home study visit is Tuesday, so please keep us in your prayers as we take our next BIG step in this very long process.
